Here is the story of a Nicaraguan microentrepreneur supported on Babyloan and the first microcredit she has been granted.
Like her mother before her, Fatima makes and sells tortillas in Managua, Nicaragua. Today, she has her own family and her children help her to run the family business. On the morning, Fatima makes tortilla dough on a huge basin with water and corn flour. Then, on the afternoon, she sells tortillas on a crowded corner street of the neighborhood. Her husband often comes with her and sometimes her children too.
My mother taught me how to make tortillas. Today, this is my job and it enables me to provide for my family. I hope that this small business will grow.
The impact of microcredit on Fatima’s life: Fatima’s microcredit helped her purchase more corn flour. Today, she makes 30 kg of dough each day and sells around 450 tortillas. With this very profitable activity, she hopes to hire soon her first employee and to open one more point of sale in another district of Managua.
