Babyloan's team

Meet Babyloan’s team, where each member is motivated and motivating!

Management group:

Management is comprised of Arnaud and Aurélie, the founding members, and Mariella, their indispensable right hand. They are in charge of Babyloan’s strategy and policies.

Arnaud, Babyloan’s founder and President
"The beginning of this exciting and endless adventure was all due to a stroke of luck. I spent twelve years in the world of investment banking in Paris, and one day in 2004, I received an email from Amsterdam naming me sustainable development manager of the OBC Bank in 2004. I didn’t even know what sustainable development meant! In January 2005, I met with ACTED and discovered microcredit during a fundraising campaign to help tsunami victims. In March 2005, during a meeting with ABN’s sustainable development manager I met her intern, Aurélie Duthoit. Nothing would have been possible without her. In May 2006, I discovered in an article published in Courrier International the first Website of this kind in the United States. The rest is history…"

Aurélie, Babyloan’s founder and Chief Executive
“Even though my studies destined me to a lucrative career in finance or marketing, I discovered microfinance – thanks to a one-year field immersion - and I’ve never been able to walk away. After a few jobs in international cooperation, I took the plunge and launched Babyloan with Arnaud. It is a business totally dedicated to its social mission… Such a joy!”

Mariella, Secretary General
“After four years of studies in a business and development school, I got the opportunity to work in international cooperation. I wanted to get more experience in the microfinance sector, so I began to work for Babyloan in July 2009.”

MFI group:

In charge of managing partnerships with microfinance institutions working on the field with micro-entrepreneurs.

Julia, MFI partnership manager
“With German-Filipino heritage, I've always been exposed to the contrasts between the developed and developing world. This background shaped my interests and my wish to work in development. Through my studies in economics, field experience with MFIs, and an eventual Masters in International Development, my path was defined and my conviction in microfinance confirmed. I heard about Babyloan while in Australia finishing my second Masters (this time in commerce), and I hopped on a plane to join Arnaud and Aurelie in their adventure. And what a journey it has been!”

Anne-Charlotte, Financial analyst
"I took an interest in microfinance before I finished my studies and I really wanted to participate too! I began to work in this sector when I was hired by a microfinance investment services entity in Paris. I was in charge of the monitoring of the portfolio risk, and I learned a lot about financial analysis applied to this sector. Then I worked in Mexico with Alternativa Solidaria (ALSOL), a great institution in Chiapas that works with women in Mayan communities. After this experience, I wanted to continue, and I was hired by Babyloan."

Innovation and Development group:

A small team, but definitely willing to innovate and launch new projects.

Baptiste, Innovation Project Manager
“I studied international trade then sustainable development, and I discovered that the best way to associate both was to concentrate on social entrepreneurship, which emphasizes the fact that human beings are the highest priority, but without forgetting the fact that a business has to be sustainable. Babyloan and more generally microfinance is a perfect embodiment of this.”

Partnership and Events group:

Babyloan doesn’t act alone but with Babyloanians, institutional player of microfinance and social economics, and everyone willing to help us grow.

Margaux, Institutional Partnership Manager
"I studied at ISTOM, an engineering school specialized in international agro-development, and then I went to Mexico to improve my knowledge of microfinance, where I compared informal microfinance mechanisms to formal services offered in a rural community in Oaxaca State. The uses of the loans as well as the economic and social functions of savings and credit were varied. Working with Babyloan is an opportunity to participate in the development of the sector in an original way."

Pauline, Communication Manager
"My grandmother used to say that, even as a child, I loved to help people. According to my grandfather, I was a chatterbox! To my parents, I was a bit of a geek. It was only natural that I became Communications, Web and Partnership Manager for Babyloan. What is it that I like about this social business? Innovation, movement, ideas popping up and a project that makes sense! I feel like I'm actively participating and creating change for the better! This is exactly like lending on Babyloan : With a little, you can do a lot!"

Laura , Events Planner
"When I was a student, two humanitarian missions allowed me to meet exceptional people working for local communities and to understand the whole human potential in developing countries. Then, I studied the impact of new technologies on the way we communicate and think about the world. A first experience at danone.communities made me realize the levers of commitment. With Babylon’s team and Babyloan gatherings in November, I do hope to pass on this passion!"
